TRAINING

Hawkview Ranch boarders come from varied disciplines and are of diverse skill levels. Your particular trainer may be permitted to use the arena and facilities for your lesson with prior authorization. Please call to discuss.

Natural Horsemanship
Owner Karen Bish and several other horse owners have been very involved with natural horsemanship, Trainer Teresa Bickel “Natural Equine Partnership” teaches at Hawkview Ranch often and offers lessons for beginners through  advancing levels, including assessments, trailer loading and problem behaviors, Teaching the human to communicate with the horse to be safe and by building confidence in the horse and human. Contact Teresa at 541-420-7352.

Natural Horsemanship Playground
A good way to get your horse used to obstacles and what might otherwise be "scary" objects, is to have those "objects" available to explore, walk over, around, under and through.  A good collection of items stay set up in the grassy field next to the arena, for just this purpose. Among other things, there's a wooden platform, bridge with rails, labyrinth, three-step platform, teeter-totter, and several large tires. These are great for training on a lead line and/or for riding.

Friendship Savvy String
This is a group of men and women all studying the Parelli approach to natural horse training. They meet once per month on Wednesday evening to enjoy a potluck dinner and share programs on horsemanship skills, care, activities, etc.  They also plan trail rides, clinics and play days. For more information, see their Yahoo Group site: www.groups.yahoo.com under FSSHorsemanship.

Hunter/Jumper
Trainer Kathy Kerron specializes in a positive training  and show ring preparation for both horse and rider. She has been in the Hunter / Jumper business for over 30 years teaching and training beginner through Grand Prix levels and has been a USEF “r” judge in Hunters and Hunt Seat Equitation for the past 5 years. She is currently president of the High Desert Hunter Jumper Association. Contact Kathy at 541-420-9711 or email: pdr@bendbroadband.com. Kathy is now accepting new clients.

Kids and Families
Kali Vanagas and Les Freeman, the "PonyPros," offer natural
horsemanship and positive reinforcement training based on living the
"Misty of Chincoteague" dream. Paired with ponies who enhance their
natural gifts, students develop partnerships that continually exceed
expectations for what is possible in a horse/human relationship. In a
team-based setting, students trail ride, jump, show, and practice the
art of playing with horses at liberty. Colt starting, adult lessons,
and rescue horse training also available. www.ponypro.net.
